Ian Byers | The Tension Of Materials
This film was made with the intention of shining a light on a body of new work by Ian Byers. Ian was filmed and interviewed at EVE Gallery, Edenbridge, Kent. The work on display brings together various modes of expression; drawing, printing, found objects, ceramic sculptural form, and a crude sensual use of clay.
Speak Machine
The project is a response to the E17 Art Trail theme of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths). Speak Machine is a creative collaboration between its originator, the filmmaker Dee Honeybun, and the E17-based poetry collective, Forest Poets. The project began with a conversation between Dee Honeybun and Mike Sims (Forest Poets) about a possible collaboration for the E17 Art Trail 2017, and how the Pumphouse Museum, with its unrivaled collection of the engines, vehicles and other machines made in Walthamstow and the Lea Valley, could provide the inspiration. The first stage was an exciting open mic evening at the Rose and Crown pub in March, at which poets and writers performed STEAM-inspired poems. Recordings of these performances have been incorporated within the finished film. Lines from participating poems have been sampled and remixed into the community poem ‘Speak Machine’.
Margaret Gardiner | Vapour Glaze Ceramics
Over the many years Margaret Gardiner has been working with ceramics, she has developed and refined a specialist firing process of Vapour Glazing. Filmmaker Dee Honeybun follows Margaret Gardiner from the final stages of decorating and glazing through to the dramatic reduction firing, and kiln unpacking to reveal her iridescent pieces. As the process develops we learn of the many varied influences on Margaret and her work.
Sport’ability
Sport’ability’ is a project that celebrates and commemorates the unsung skills of Waltham Forest residents. Through a series of workshops and short residencies Dee Honeybun and Scribble and Smudge worked with groups to create and make imaginative sporting activities.
Lega’say’ Stories of 2012
Waltham Forest, north east London, was one of the five Olympic boroughs during 2012. On the doorstep of the worlds largest sporting event, the year brought people together with street parties and many different events. In Walthamstow, the community project ‘Lega’say’ 2012’ brought residents of the Hoe Street Ward together to share stories and experiences during creative workshops and interviews.
HERITAGE 100
This work was created as part of the Heritage 100 project, on behalf of Hampshire County Council and Future Creative and funded by Renaissance.
Between November 2011 and January 2012 Dee Honeybun worked with artist, Douglas Noble, as part of the Heritage 100 project designing and delivering creative workshops to engage different groups across Southampton with museum objects. 10 practitioners worked across Hampshire to promote the website www.Heritage100.org.uk and to engage the public with objects from the museums collections and archives.
ONE SUNDAY IN MARCH
One Sunday In March was made as part of a creative walk through Springhead Park, Northfleet, Kent. The project was part funded through Future Creative and North Kent Community Church. Dee Honeybun was one of several practitioners designing and delivering creative projects linked to Springhead Park. The area was to be developed for housing. Dee was interested in the history of settlement in the area. She worked with the local history group and a close primary school. As part of the walk, those taking part were asked to record their experiences and the collected video, photography, and sound was edited by Dee Honeybun to make the film One Day In March.
